Rough-In Redlines
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about PDF markup for electricians and the trades: what it does today, what's coming, and what it costs.
Is there a cheaper Bluebeam alternative for electricians?
Yes. Rough-In Redlines is PDF markup built for electricians and the trades, and Pro is $39.99 once on Windows, with no subscription. It covers the everyday work: clouds and redlines, electrical symbols, counts, measuring to scale, compare, sign and print. It isn't a full replacement for every Bluebeam feature, but your markups open editable in Bluebeam, so it works alongside an office that uses it. See the comparison.
Can I count devices like receptacles on a PDF?
Yes. Tap Count and tap each device, or use Find & Count: box one receptacle and it finds the matching symbols on every sheet. You get totals by sheet and for the whole set, on the PDF and as a CSV spreadsheet for the estimator.
Can I measure square feet from a Google Maps screenshot?
Area in square feet is coming in the next update. Today you can open a screenshot or photo, set the scale from a known length, and measure lengths in feet and inches. With the next update you'll be able to trace a room, roof or lot and get the area in square feet.
Does it work offline on a job site?
Yes. Every tool works with no signal, in basements, mechanical rooms and trailers. Your drawings stay on your device. Only sending, backup and the one-time Pro activation need a connection.
Can my markups open in Bluebeam?
Yes. Choose Send PDF, then PDF for Bluebeam / Acrobat. Your clouds, text, symbols and other markups arrive as editable markups in Bluebeam Revu and Adobe Acrobat, with author, subject and date. If you just need a read-only copy, send a flattened PDF instead.
Is it a subscription?
No. Rough-In Redlines is free for 3 drawings, and Rough-In Pro for Windows is $39.99 once for unlimited drawings, with a license key that works on 2 PCs. There are no renewals. The only monthly plan will be Crew, the team version, which is coming soon.
Does it work on iPad or Android?
The Windows version is out now on the Microsoft Store. The iPad, iPhone and Mac app is coming soon to the App Store. An Android tablet version with S Pen support is in development; email us to hear when it's ready.
Can my whole crew share drawings?
That's Crew, the team version, and it's coming soon at $15 per person per month. Shared projects will sync markups, notes, photos, counts and filled-in forms between the office PC and the field iPad, and keep working offline. Today, the Solo app keeps drawings on each person's device, and you share by sending PDFs. Learn about Crew.
What does Free include?
Every tool, on up to 3 drawings, with nothing held back. That includes markup, trade symbols, Find & Count, measuring, compare, sign, redact, print and Bluebeam-ready PDF export. There's no account and no sign-up. When you need more drawings, Pro unlocks unlimited drawings for a one-time $39.99.
How do I fill out a PDF form?
Open the form like any drawing. Click or tap a field and type, tick the check boxes and pick from the lists. Add your signature if it needs one, then send or print it.
Can I make panel schedules?
Yes, on the iPad today, and on Windows in the next update. In a drawing, open More, then Panel Schedules. Add a panel, describe each circuit, and combine circuits for 2- and 3-pole breakers. Send it as an Excel file and a PDF directory card with your company name and logo.
